Cala dei Santi is the first inlet encountered when rounding Punta Avoltore towards Porto Ercole and is one of the oldest areas of the promontory. In the cave that bears the same name, numerous artifacts have been found, indicating human presence in ancient times.
The cave is also named after the locals’ belief that the bizarre shapes of stalactites and stalagmites resemble figures of saints. On the same stretch of coastline is Grotta Azzurra. Like the cave on the island of Capri, here the daylight gives the water intense blue glimmers.
